Often the people who arrive at Celebration of Dance are those who feel a calling or desire to express themselves in worship through dance and movement. Some are experienced dancers who have, up to now, never made the connection between dance and worship. Others have no dance experience and don’t have the first idea of where to begin. Still others are looking for resources that will facilitate worship dance being released in their local congregation. The common theme is that people want to express themselves in worship in a new and intimate way through dance and movement.
At Celebration of Dance our focus is first to foster a deeper intimacy with God, for out of that comes a response to worship in dance and movement. This is one reason why our blog has a strong emphasis on learning how to connect more closely with Our Heavenly Father. Our Devotional Dance Workshop video is our foundational video upon which all our other videos are birthed from. You cannot watch and participate along with the Devotional Dance Workshop video and not have experienced God in a profound way. In all our worship dance teaching, time is first spent bringing participants into a personal encounter with God before any choreography is taught.
The second thing with all our worship dances is that we teach choreography that is easy to learn. We don’t pretend to be a dance company. Our mission is not to train people to become dancers, but to be a catalyst that releases others to worship in freedom, in their own way, in worship dance whether that is in the privacy of their own home, or in a public place such as a church. Most often the people who seek our worship dance resources are stepping into a realm that is often new and a bit intimidating. To make movements too complicated takes the focus off worship and onto the dance. Celebration of Dance believes we all have a God-given dance within each of us and that dance is expressed in different and widely creative ways in the context of worship. We simply want to help release that dance from a heart that has encountered God in a deeply profound way.
